There seems to be a DAY for everything and everyone. Usually these days are not the most healthy… wine day, pizza day, donut day. A favorite for me was “buy a priest a beer day.” I shared that particular day on my Facebook feed with the edit to, “buy a pastor a beer day” and was the recipient of beer and a restaurant gift certificate for beer and it was all great fun.
Today is Global Running Day. I love the idea of this one because it promotes doing something healthy. I’ll be jogging a 5K later today (still in recovery mode from M2B). If you’ve been thinking of running – of trying running – but haven’t started yet, why not try it today? You don’t have to run too hard, and actually shouldn’t run too hard. Just plan for 20 minutes. Walk 5 minutes, then for the next 15 minutes alternate between 30 seconds running and 2 minutes walking, followed by 5 minutes walking. It’s as easy as that!
Today I am personally thankful for: the ability to run; living near the coast; and living in California.
